Configuring Blumira to send notifications and scheduled reports to an ITSM tool

Overview

By creating a service user in your Blumira account, you can send Blumira's finding notifications, integration health alerts, and scheduled reports to your IT service management (ITSM) system via email.

Creating a service user

To create a notification-only user account, do the following:

  1. In the Blumira app, navigate to Settings > Users.
  2. Click Add New User.
  3. In the New user window, type a name for the user that indicates it is a service or ticketing account.
    Example: Help Desk
  4. In the Email box, type the email address you want to send notifications to.
    Example: alerts@example.com
  5. From the Roles list, select Responder.
  6. From the Locations list, select the locations that you want to use.
  7. Click Add user.
  8. You will receive a new user welcome email as a ticket at the email address provided.

Enabling notifications

The new service user is automatically opted into all finding notifications, which create new tickets in your ITSM tool via email. Integration health alerts must be enabled manually to begin sending emails for those default-disabled notifications.

To customize the notification settings for this user (i.e., only receive notifications for specific types of findings or priority levels), you can do so in Settings > Users > Edit > Edit User Notifications.

Scheduling reports

You might find it helpful for scheduled reports to be sent directly as a ticket to notify staff of available reports and assign work to the appropriate internal resource. If you want to do this, as mentioned at the top of this article, first determine what email address you wish to use.

To send scheduled reports via email, do the following:

  1. In the Blumira app, in the menu on the left, click Reporting.
  2. Click Scheduled Reports.
  3. In the row for the report that you want to send to a channel, click Edit Report.
  4. In the Recipients box, type the email address of the service user you created in previous steps or any other recipient's address.
  5. Click Save.
